Multitasking

I use the Parallax Chip. That chip allows other process to stand along and process in the background.
Can the Arduino r3 do something like the Parallax chip?

If you’re talking about the Propellor, that’s a multicore device.
The AVR is single core.
That’s not to say that cooperative multitasking on the AVR is impossible.

Bill Greiman has 3 multitaskers adapted for Ardunio, but I don't know anything about them myself.

And, in fact, non-cooperative multitasking is possible too, using timer interrupts to grab control on a scheduled basis, but obviously that gets a little bit tricky. Or use something someone else has written and tested for you: http://www.femtoos.org/

Interesting chip, the Propeller.

Multiple core, very fast execution (for a microcontroller), but relatively limited code space as I understand.

Simple jobs fast.
