Mushrooms are a source of vitamin D!

Also fiber and protein with no fat!

I'm lactose intolerant so I don't get D from milk no mo.
But there are mushroom raviolis and tortellinis I do love!

  • Similar here.

  • My "D" was very low 20 years back, ~15 ng/mL.

  • Since then I take 3000IU twice per day.

  • Levels are routinely at ~45 ng/mL now.

Not to forget the positive effects of the variaty called "Narrische Schwammerl" that appear in dishes serverd to polititians and lawyers :sunglasses:

The best mushroom recipe we have here.

You don't talk about mushrooms in Australia.

Tom.. :+1: :coffee: :australia:

Oddly enough, I got that from a NSW vlogger who grows his own, mostly species I already know to be safe and some sold in stores local here, like Shittake.
Over 40 years ago I did pick wild mushrooms of the magic kind and ate them. Other kinds that would make anyone sick or kill them horribly in an hour or less (the pure white Angel of Death and some green or rust-orange types) grew in one area but with a field book and sma number of positive ID traits I never got a bad one in 2 seasons of picking. I got a lot of Experience back then but was careful except once to only eat a few at a time.

I have also bought baskets of button mushrooms at mushroom barns in Kennet Square, Pennsylvania, "The Mushroom Capital of the World" (LOL!)) where they've been grown long before I was born, but I prefer Portabella's for taste and texture --- they have vitamin D with zero magic at all.

If you don't know what you see is safe, don't touch it!
If I have a guide or grower, I would try Lion's Mane and like.
One IDIOT doesn't characterize the lot.
Ignorance and fear go hand in hand, witness MAGA!

You mean like sunlight?

Changes the top of cubensis. But the top is not critical to ID the shroom. If the gills are wrong, toss it! That would be a look-like.
