My computer bluescreens when I plug in my nano

I have an OSEPP NANO that was $40 at a local electronics store (which makes this all the more annoying). All I can really say at this point is when I plug the device into my USB port my computer blue screens after a few seconds. To be fully honest this particular device has been sitting in a bin for a while so I haven't touched it. I'm hesitant to bluescreen my computer semi-on purpose so I can't give an exact error message. If that will help I'll go for it, but for now I'm wondering if anyone has any "quick fixes"

-Thanks in advance

Put a meter in Ohm mode between the USB 5V and Gnd pins. Are they shorted? Fix that problem first.

Will do, thank you
