My ESP8266 puts out 12 ma and my relay wants 60 ma

My ESP8266 puts out 12 ma on the output and my relay wants 60 ma input

I want to understand how to not overload my controller and how I would quickly increase my amps to the relay without taking the amps from the microcontroller.

I am using the very extremely common relay you see all over amazon & ebay and yes it is opto-isolated.

thank you

yes it is opto-isolated.

Then the current produced by the ESP8266 is not the current that is consumed by the relay. All you need from the ESP8266 is enough current to light the LED in the opto-isolator.
