I am new to the Arduino world and know a little bit about computers. I think I know my way around terms of the trade. I can hook it up, soldier, run wires, install equipment, understand PCB circuitry, etc.. Just need a little help defining my system.
I would like to build my office and home automation system that would include: lighting, sensors, cameras, security, alarms, etc.
My basic need is a ‘wiring diagram” that shows how to connect and control several LED recessed ceiling lights, cameras, switches, etc. to my computer.
● Would like to use Arduino units using WiFi technology to control and manage the lighting system. However, Z-Wave and PoE could be considered.
● Will be expanding the control system to approximately thirty stations within six months. I.e. Switches, cameras, sensors, etc.
● Based on your suggestions I could use single Arduino positions or create a switch with a Rackmount Arduino or two that are driving several end operations.
● Would like the end product to allow my system control on a computer monitor and/or Android tablet(s).
● I think my options are:
Use existing 110-volt wiring to switch, camera, sensor, etc.
Install new CAT-5 or CAT-6 cabling to the above.
Install WiFi equipment between each of the above and the processor/switch/hub
Install Z-Wave technology between each of the above and the processor/switch/hub.
● Most of the switches, cameras, and sensor wiring are in place; however, eighty-five percent could be changed over to CAT-5 or WiFi is appropriate and efficient.
● I should be able to accomplish hardware modifications with ease; however, I am not very proficient on the programming side of this project. Physical wiring and equipment installation would be no problem. I should be able to make any modifications and customization to your diagrams, notes and suggestions.
● I think I can follow your instructions, tutorials, examples, etc.. Just need to know how you would hook up or make the connections between the following: (just a quick-and-dirty note back to me will do)
LED lamp to supply source wiring.
Wiring to switch
110 volt hard wire
PoE CAT-V
Wiring of the switch to Arduino
Arduino to processor
● If someone would furnish me a simple wiring diagram of the above or lead me to a source where I could get professional help with my project it would greatly be appreciated.
