So yeah, my first completed project, although this is only version one. I am insanely satisfied with this, I made everything, the top, the smd-beads, and all that sewing, took ages
It's very simple, a push button is used as an incrementer to cycle through different patterns. So far only three: all off, all on, and random twinkle. Without further ado I proffer my humble project:
Thank you! It was what I was going for, that ridiculous amounts of technology doesn't have to mean ugly or unwearable.
That's pretty neat!
Can you share more detail about the leds? what kind are they? how are they sewn onto fabric?
Thanks! Sure, they are surface mount LEDs, to which I've soldered a crimp bead at each end. (Crimp beads being short hollow metal cylinders used in jewelery making.) It's tricky stuff, and not the strongest bond, but does the job. Then the LED-beads are sewn onto the fabric (and the + and - lines of conductive thread previously laid down by sewing machine) with conductive thread, observing the polarity.
I talk about the proceedure in more detail here: Captcha Check
that was cool...but whats its use??
Heh, thanks It's point is mostly beauty (with the added enhancements it'll be fun as well), but overall it's a learning experience for other more functional wearables.
