My First Project Ethernet/zwave and Dry Wire Sensors

Hello All

I have been looking for a something available 5 or 10 zone Dry Wire Sensor array to either zwave or Ethernet. I found some things but not really want I want.
I am automating my home and want to retire my Ademco vista 20.
All of the zones are wired, 1-3 are windows, 4,5 are front and back doors.
I would like to keep my zones, but did not want to buy 5 separate battery powered dry contact sensors like the Aeon ZW097.
The question is what hardware could I use to create my own module?
So I can pull the Vista 20 out totally.

What is replacing the "Ademco vista 20"?

Yes, A Vista 20. And replacing it with a Smart things HUB or some other open source UNIX system.

Pick a home controller, see what interfaces/networking it supports. See if there any good libraries for the Arduino.
If not, pick a different home controller and repeat the process.
