My IR distance sensor doesn't work properly

Hello! I'm an Arduino begginer and i bought the ARDUINO UNO rev3 microcontroller with the IR distance sensor.
After i wrote the code, when i wanted to check the serial monitor, it showed me numbers from 180 to 200. I tried to unplug the pin in which was the sensor, nothing changed. And if i approach my hand to the sensor, it goes to 500.
How can i solve this problem?

Start by posting your code and a schematic: one or both is likely to be wrong, unless the sensor is faulty.
