A good-bye note to folks I have known digitally for a while and respect.
A recent disagreement with a mod went badly and I was banned for a week. Sadly, I was working with a few Ops on issues and the mod had no concern other than to make a "point." Sadly, once banned, there is no way to generate an appeal. As there was "no" communication (discussion) directly with Mod, I take great exception with "Too combative" but that is another layer that I will not peel-back as there is no benefit to anyone.
I am old and set in my ways and the ban provided the 'break' I needed to realize that I am dealing with an ever-growing blackhole (the forum) that is spewing negative energy in my direction. I have increasingly become aware that time spent here is providing diminishing returns on enjoyment.
In that I have become increasingly disappointed with the forum, I am removing myself before I have a meltdown online.
Best wishes to all for the future. Viva Arduino and the employee team. Please consider buying "genuine Arduino hardware" so that knowledgeable members can assist you with your enquiries in this forum space.
Sorry to see this. You've never been overly combative to me, though we've disagreed at times.
I've had similar thoughts about the forum in the last month; a week of self-imposed silence hasn't quelled that disquiet, but we'll see how the next couple of days transpire. I have a couple of private discussions going, and I'd dislike walking away from them.
Sorry to read that. You've helped me in the past and many others. Thanks for all the time you've put in, you will be missed. It is up to you to use the forum the way you want to i.e. smaller chunks of time and at your convenience.
I find that totally wrong apart from the Banzi bit.
The problem is not particularly the moderators.
ALL (bar one) are exceptionally dedicated to the community.
Speaking from experience BTW !
Maybe if others had been this compassionate initially, OP would be staying.
Guys, the board is NOT civil. If you can not offer help, keep the snark to yourselves. You know who I'm talking to.
This place exists only to help others. If your response contains no actual help then don't post it!
Even if you're posting "how to use the forum", be polite and offer at least a word of help or a follow on Q. Lecturing users about board protocol is not helping the OP.
I don´t remember if we've interacted on any topics but i've followed the many helpful suggestions you've given to different users. So I look forward to see you back soon.
I do hope you see these comments Ray, they reflect what I also have noticed - your consistent positive helpfulness.
I recently had a similar suspension - couldnt complain, I'm old impatient and crabby and deserved it. What REALLY annoyed me was to be told I'd ignored instructions - I hadnt received any.
Hope you reconsider - look at how many very positive comments you have had here from the cream of members.
