My new electronics website

My new electronics website has just been launched! Please feel free to give me suggestions on what could be made better.

I will be posting competitions and other cool stuff on here as often as possible, so stay tuned for more content!

Your own forum rules say: "no advertising", but that is what you just did here.

Until something is for sale, I would name it informing... not advertising.

I shall be careful. I saw that other people had done the same thing without any issues, so I thought it mustn't be considered advertising. Do let me know if I do overstep that boundary. I shall be happy to delete it if everyone thinks it is advertising/annoying.

It is okay
A forum, such as the EEVBlog forum, or this forum take many years and is a lot of work. Also making money with Youtube videos is not so easy as it was ten years ago. Find your own way, one step at a time.

I hope this isn't considered advertising, but I'm looking for anyone who may want to write some tutorials on my website. As long as it has to do with Arduino/electronics, I'm happy with anything you want to write. Please let me know if you are interested!

The reward is a free unlimited membership plan worth $15 a month.

UPDATE: I am hoping to post tutorials every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so keep an eye out if that sounds interesting! I am also working on posting my first competition sometime later this month, or early next month.

It sounds like you will be charging to access your site. What would members get for their money ?

Sort of. There are only a couple things that members get charged for. Almost everything is free. You get access to some special tutorials (written by me and some other people), a special group, and points. Points are able to be exchanged for coupon codes which can be used on the products I will be selling. 2/3 of everything is free. I'll be writing two free posts and one subscription post every week.

The only reason I have a subscription plan is because a eCommerce website is expensive. And I'm not joking. Wix (the platform I use) is from $384 to $696 a year. I don't even make that much spare cash every year! I'm sort of hoping that between my subscriptions and the products I'll be selling that I can at least cover my website costs each year, even if I don't get much profit to begin with.

A domain name costs 5 euros a year in my country.
There is free to use CMS software, but then you have to keep track of updates and security issues. Some providers have a list of CMS software to choose from and they do the updates. Together with hosting, a domain-name and SSL, that could be 70 euros a year.

Does that include a good eCommerce platform? I don't mean WordPress style - that is just awful.

Probably not a full working platform for that price.
When PHP is included, then there are free to use eCommerce packages such abantecart, opencart and so on.

I see. SO you mean a website that needs to be programmed...
Wix isn't that sort of website builder. It is a "drag and drop" style of editor, which is ideal for me as I don't want to learn web programming. Wix is the best website editor out here, and that's not just my opinion, a lot of people say that.

I am using a Samsung tablet with Android, the text and images on your website look to be about 4 times bigger than I would expect.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I actually don't have a tablet to test it on, only a friends smartphone, so I'm glad you let me know.

Do you have any screenshots?

That's on a 10" display, so it fills the whole display area.

Thanks for the feedback. I made a couple edits, it looks better on a smartphone, but I can't assure you that it will look good on a tablet. Let me know if there are any other issues with it next time you look at it.

I know this is a little bit late, but I'd like to thank those who have offered suggestions, and those who have written various posts on subjects that they specialize in/ I don't have a large amount of experience in.

I will be on holidays for the next four weeks, so please expect only one post a week during this time instead of the normal three.

I'd also like to inform you of a new line of posts that are currently being created, on IT subjects. They are being written by someone with nearly thirty years experience as a computer technician. Keep an eye out for the first one next week!
