My RFID reader is not working.

Hi, ive just got a new arduino kit and it came with this RFID reader.

i have used the example code that came on a cd with the kit and when i try to scan the card it does nothing. The code says that there should be UID of the card will be displayed in the serial monitor but nothing is shown except “Warning: this example overwrites the UID of your UID changeable card, use with care!”.
