No soldering required for my monitoring system: an Arduino with two shields (Ethernet and S65 shield) stacked onto it suffices.
Nevertheless, you might like it.

Think you could make this interface with one of those scrolling red LED signs? Or build your own... I'd love to have a sign like that posted in the server room that scrolls the status of various systems.
A scrolling interface should be feasible, although I have no experience with that. Sounds like something nice to do...
