Nano 33 BLE Rev2 doesn't recognizes VCNL4040 light sensor

For the past few years I’ve been selling a product that relies on a Nano 33 BLE board and a VCNL4040 light sensor from Adafruit.

All was well I was forced to use the Rev2 boards as gradually stocks of Rev1 came to zero.

I updated the board package and did the necessary code changes to talk to the new IMUs. And all is well on that regard. The IMU’s respond correctly.

However, the board stopped recognizing the VCNL4040 sensor, even the VCNL example stopped working, reporting that the board wasn’t found.

If I recompile with the older Nano board package, the VCNL is recognized but the IMU’s don’t work (as expected).

The VCNL board uses an I2C protocol and the address is 0x60, so no conflict with the Bosch sensors.

I’m stuck. Do you know of any change brought by Rev2 or the updated board package that could have brought this issue… ?

Should this be posted in Paid Consultancy since you sell the product?

Is there a paid consultancy folder ?

Yes under Community

That’s fair, but don’t you think the answer to this would be of interest to anyone doing development with a Nano 33 ?

You receive money when you sell a widget. Isn't it obvious you should pay anyone who you 'hire' to help fix it.
The search engine couldn't care less where a Nano 33 post is located.

Thank you, you’ve been quite helpful!

Afaik they should use different i2c bus. Wire1 for Bosch and Wire for external sensor.
You likely need external pullups for the VCNL.

Solved

With pullups or Wire configuration?
