I've been trying around connecting two BLE sense via Bluetooth. Unfortunately, the range is extremely limited with less than 3ft/1m. It's even interrupted by a sheet of paper in front of one of the sense or a hand remotely in between the two boards.
I'm using the ArduinoBLE library.
Another issue I'm having is that the peripheral is only found by the other sense if I restart/advertise the service from time to time. Discovery by other devices works fine and over a quite impressive range.
Maybe you have already encountered this issue and found a solution.
Regarding the range issue, please check to make sure there are 5 small SMD components soldered to the top of the PCB antenna on the Nano 33 BLE's Bluetooth module. It should look like this picture:
That's definitely no good. Please contact Arduino support via this form:
Do you get good range using the Nano 33 BLE with the faulty antenna connected to a device other than a Nano 33 BLE, or do you only get good range using the Nano 33 BLE with the good antenna?
No, only with the one with the good antenna has good connectivity with any device. Thank you so much. wouldn't have found that out without you I'll send a message to support.

So how far from BLE 33 lying on table should I be able to get signal if it runs as a Ibeacon?
With clear line of sight I just got 30m. I used a Eddystone beacon example and BLE Scanner app on an iPhone. I could scan and connect to the beacon at that distance. There were about 20 other BLE devices and multiple WiFi networks in scanner range.
oki, thanks......ask seller to return and he sat me up with arduino, so I post back if I get a new one send or not! 100% sure I did not broke it.....so......
Just a feedback.......I got mine returned into a new one!
So Status of Number 1). it had broken attenas, and was replaced, and the replacement works fine!
I also then brought 2 others, and here get it strange as of the 2 new ones the following happens:
Number 2).
This one smoked then I attached the USB, it worked/lighting up if just powering though 3.3v + grd. So this one also got send back (dident brother try flashing though rx/tx)....and a new under it way.
number 3).
this one worked, but the yellow light there should lighting under flashing never turns yellow. This is not something I complained about as such but shows something about the quality I guess. This one now runs fine in my Brewery though.
So of the 3 BLE 33 Sense I brought 2 had to be replaced and in a sense all 3 was somehow broken..........is Arduno selling bad components?!??!?

Or have I experiance some really bad luck?
I have two Nano 33 BLE and one Nano 33 BLE Sense and have had no problems with any of them. The first two were from a year ago and the third I bought a couple months ago.
The capacitors are located in a place an incautious user might press down on when inserting the Nano into a breadboard, so the issue of the missing capacitor on the antenna may be caused by rough handling by the user rather than Arduino receiving faulty NINA-B306 modules.
