need a water pressure sensor for a small submarine robot

we have faced a problem in providing and finding a water pressure sensor for our submarine robot
please propose us a useful model or a knwon company that manufactures these sensors
if you have a part number it will be more useful
otherewise , is waterproofing such a sensor usfull for a project like this ?
what kinf of pressure sensor we should use to waterproof ?

thanks for your help

You can use a differential sensor like Rob's link above but one port on the sensor would need to be open to the interior of the submersible and the other would need to be open to the water (probably via a tube). Unless the sensor is spec'd to allow contact with water (and only more expensive ones are) you also need to make sure that no water can travel up the tube and reach the sensor; looping the tube a few times would probably achieve that. You'd also need to zero the sensor before each dive unless you can balance the interior of the submersible with the current barometric pressure.

The critical part of selecting the proper sensor is knowing how deep you'll be diving. You need a range of approximately 10Kpa or 1PSI per meter of depth.
