Need advice and minor help with EEPROM read/write project

Hello all,

I am a new user of this type of product and I have a need to read and write to an EEPROM IC S-24CS04A (4k bit). It looks like the Arduino Uno will work well for this project but since I have not used it before then I need some advice. What I am looking to do is read the total content of the EEPROM, view it, store the result and edit the content of the EEPROM. Will the Arduino Uno work for this what I think will be a simple project?

I will be working with two package types for this EEPROM and they are 8-pin DIP and 8-pin SOP. The 8-pin DIP is not a problem with wiring up to a socket. Any suggestions on a quick release socket for the SOP package? The only sockets I have seen require the SOP package to be soldered to it. I would prefer a quick release socket if available so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time,
Bruce

Yeah, there are abundant libraries for interfacing with AT24 EEPROMs. Piece of cake.
