Need advice to re-solder ripped wire in a tight space

Hi,

So the ground wire on my solenoid lock somehow ripped in a very inconvenient place (see images attached).

Any advice on how to reconnect them?

Thanks

  1. Rip apart the black wire from the red wire, some 3 cm.
  2. Place a piece of shrinking tube on the black wire.
  3. Gently pull out as much as you dare of the black wire from the solenoid, it might need cutting open some of the blue tape.
  4. Strip off two more millimeters of the black insulation of the revealed black wire.
  5. Take one strand of copper wire and tie together the two ends that are to be soldered. This is really tedious nitpicking. But it will keep the ends together while soldering.
  6. Solder the ends without warming the shrinking tube.
  7. Cut the ends of the extra strand.
  8. Place the tube over the joint and shrink it with your soldering iron.
  9. Post a picture of your work on social media.

So I did just that, but also added a nice coat of glue gun to make sure nothing moves around too much. Seems to be working just fine... for now!
