I'm not familiar with your application. But it sounds like it uses the name as reported on device manager to identify the board.

In which case the mix of Mega and ProMicro should work. Or the original Mega and

  1. a Mega clone with CH340.
  2. an Uno, Micro, Leonardo, ...
