I kinda thought I could light up the topic with my comments about COBOL. I used quite a few languages over the years. I can confidently say that COBOL was one of them. 
All I can say is that it worked. Sure made my fingers tired with all the typing. That is, after the demise of punched cards where I wrote the code and the data entry clerks typed it on keypunch machines.
I am busy learning about F(), struct, string memory compare, and other stuff you guys told me about.
