Need help about 4 pin sensor "DYP-ME007Y"

Hello. I have a problem with my sensor. It's a waterproof sensor which has the code DYP-ME007Y on it. When I place it in water, it doesn't read any value. But when it isn't it water, it is able to read a value. What should I do? I am using the Newping Library. Thank you and God bless!

From what I can find the DYP-ME007Y is a waterproof sensor but there is a huge difference between being waterproof and being designed to work under water.

What do you mean? What should I do with it?

Are you trying to detect distances underwater (like sonar) with the device? If so then I don't think it will work like that as the high frequencies used will be dampened out too much by the water.

I think it operates in water if I am correct, as what this site says,

Well nothing in that link tells me it will work underwater, just that the sensor is 'waterproof' which could simply mean if left out in the rain the sensor will not be damaged. The fact that they give only one formula also is not a good sign for underwater operation as ultrasonic waves travel at different speeds in air Vs water.

Formula: uS/5.8 = mm, or uS/148 = inches. If the object is not detected, the module output pin pin will output a constant pulse width of about 35MS.

The DYP-ME007 doesn't work under water. It's simply waterproof, meaning it won't be damaged if contacted by water. In other words, this is standard above water ultrasonic sensors that you can use in damp environment.
