BTW if I use the max how many pins will that use up. If I could use all digital pins that would be nice.
That is correct. Ebay is much cheaper.
It only need 3 pins.
Now if 3 pins get used i have 10 pins left and off those ten 2 are the tx anr rx and im still able to use those for input pins? And my teacher was saying im going to need and off on switch and a reset board switch. Would either of those need a digital pin?
Oh i just did some research and realized I can use the analog inputs as digital haha. So I guess have many digital input pins to choose from so we will be okay with that. I'm sorry for my stupidity haha.
So this project is getting very annoying with the sensors and the lasers that are dimming out which are screwing up the digital readings. Anyone know of an easier way to accomplish this project. Anything can help, I was trying to look for a touchscreen grid or something but i can't seem to find anything. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP I WANT TO GRADUATE!

What are you using to power the lasers, the arduino or an external power supply? You should get one of these, they are called super batteries and they can keep a charge for a very long time. There are also 3 different sizes but the 1800 mAh should be more than enough for your project.
Since shipping will take a while and you need the power to finish you project, look around your house for a power adapter that can fit into the arduino power jack and be able to output 7 - 11 volts @ 600 mA - 1A. This should hold you over until you are able to get a proper power supply or that battery.
Also since the last time you posted, what have you changed in your code? Were you able to get the MAX7219 shift register?
