Need help for my audio project

Can anyone help me, please? In my project, two Arduinos will be used. The second Arduino should receive from the first Arduino the information which sound frequency it should now generate via a 4 bit R2R DAC. The correct transmission of the frequency works. The DAC also works perfectly. However, only individually tested. But it doesn't work both at the same time. What could be the problem?
