Hi guys. A friend sent me some Arduino hardware and I need some help figuring out what it is, what it does, or at least its name and model number.
OP's picture
Looks like a gas sensor.
Yeah, it's an MQ type gas sensor. There are many types, each with different sensitivities. There should be a number like MQ-13, or MQ-2 printed on it, usually in the side of the cylindrical housing. Here is a page about them.

Thanks to both of you guys!
Have you been able to identify which gas sensor it is?

Yes, it's an MQ-2. Funnily enough, I never noticed the number till now!
Oh, that's a good one! It detects leaking natural gas and other flammable vapors, and here is how to use it.
