Need help on Power Consumption issue using Shift Register

Hello All,
I’m new to arduino.

I’m planning to put 8 Shift Register (say 74HC595 in daisy chain). But if I want to drive 64 20ma LED, it’s gonna consume almost 1.28 amp power. How it can pull that much power from Arduino board (or can it?). If it can’t, then how can I feed the extra current to the board.

There are many tutorials for hooking up tons of LEDs but seems no one is clearing about the power issue (for novices like me). Anybody please help to clear this up. Thanks in advance.

It can't.

(Don't forget to connect power supply GND and Arduino GND together)
