Need Help Resolving "expected unqualified-id before 'if' "

HI! I'm rather new at programming and need help trying to figure out the solution to getting rid of the
"expected unqualified-id before 'if' " alert. Thanks so much for your time and help!

int switchState = 0;
void setup() {
pinMode(2, OUTPUT); //blue
pinMode(3, OUTPUT); //green
pinMode(4, OUTPUT); //yellow
pinMode(5, OUTPUT); //red
pinMode(1, INPUT); //button
}
void loop() {
switchState = digitalRead (1);
}
if (switchState == LOW) {
//button es no pressy
digitalWrite(2, LOW); //blue
digitalWrite(3, LOW); //green
digitalWrite(4, LOW); //yellow
digitalWrite(5, LOW); //red
}
else { //THE BUTTON HAS BEEN PRESSED
digitalWrite(2, LOW); //blue
digitalWrite(3, LOW); //green
digitalWrite(4, LOW); //yellow
digitalWrite(5, HIGH); //red
delay(250);
digitalWrite(2, LOW); //blue
digitalWrite(3, LOW); //green
digitalWrite(4, HIGH); //yellow
digitalWrite(5, LOW); //red
delay(250);
digitalWrite(2, LOW); //blue
digitalWrite(3, HIGH); //green
digitalWrite(4, LOW); //yellow
digitalWrite(5, LOW); //red
delay(250);
digitalWrite(2, HIGH); //blue
digitalWrite(3, LOW); //green
digitalWrite(4, LOW); //yellow
digitalWrite(5, LOW); //red
delay(250);
}
}//loopity scoop, scoopity loop

Place you cursor in the Source Code Window the Arduino IDE, then press CTRL-T. This will reformat your code into a common C style. Your code has a number of format hiccups that are causing your errors. For example, your code has:

void loop() {
  switchState = digitalRead (1);
}

and all of the code after that is just “hanging out in nowhere”. The opening brace ({) starts the loop() function body, and the closing brace (}) closes it. I think you need to move that closing brace to the bottom of the page…as a starting place to figure things out.

Also, read the posts at the top of the Forum about how to post source code using Code Tags.

Alright, that helped a lot. Thanks so much! I appreciate it
