Hello, a close friend of mine died recently and I have collected his G scale engines and I was changing the sounds on the engines and pressed the Play button on the DFrobot and it suddenly stopped working properly and just playing the same sound over and over, I am new to all this so learning to do stuff any help would be amazing thanks
The arduino is a nano Rp2040

I’m not sure, how do I find that out for you?
Is the video a demonstration how it should work? That control and train setup is very nice. Have many hours of fun remembering.
The video is it not working, it usually plays different sounds when it moves and can click the whistle to make it do the whistle sound

But the video showed many sounds with every button press. What am I missing?
Whenever I click the play button it will play different sounds, but when it comes to actually running it will only play the one sound, it used to play different sounds depending on what the engine is doing, before I clicked the play button it used to work normally with the sound
Looks like a DFPlayer Pro.
The DFPlayer Pro is being instructed to use the same sound file. Would you look through your scrollable selections? Maybe one of those selections is the "play random" ... but from my point of view, the train should only makes train sounds, and not the other sounds.
Check the DFPlayer Pro for the "key" hole... was a wire connected?
I think the USB was connected to the computer when I clicked play
I can see the "key" and "play" pins do not have wires in them... so the TX/RX are sending commands from the Pico
The upper-left, white button on the clear box... looks like it says "HOOT"... the lower right (not pressed) looks like it says "MENU".
If you are certain this clear box let you play other audio files, then I would say to explore all the buttons, switches and knobs.
Hey, yeah before I was trying to do stuff with it it worked perfectly fine I’ve uploaded another video that shows off what I mean better https://youtu.be/mDETSrApqPY?si=Polq63qZM5Cpartj
It looks like you were comparing "Thomas" which seemed to change audio files to "Percy" (it did not seem to change audio file in this video, but seemed to change audio files in the other video)... but I could not see if you were using the same control box (clear plastic) or a different control box.
You should keep a notebook handy and take notes as you "try stuff" so you can return everything to the working state.
"Menu" buttons usually lead you to places to change things. Investigate and take notes. You may find some settings that have been changed, or now need to be changed.
If you click and hold the play button it swaps between the different sound, the controller was made to be able to control different engines, thats why I turned it on and off after showing it working properly on Thomas so I can connect to Percy, the same problem I have had with Diesel, after clicking the play button it stops working properly
The controlers seem to be very well made, and I would assume they were made to do exactly the same (why make a different product to do the same thing?), therefore I believe it is only a matter of time for you to find how the good one works, and how to un-do what has been done to the other two. Many "button press" tricks let one button work like many buttons, using "short press, long press, many-press" - I have a device that has short, long, two-press, three-press, six-press and seven-press (yes... four-, five- were skipped).
Or...
He could have perfected one, and not changed the other two because they were just for "hoot"ing.
It worked perfectly fine before I pressed the play button, then it started playing the same sound, I’m just trying to reverse the pressing the play button, otherwise it does not work properly
