So I want to get back into Arduino and open my old project and click tools and want to choose COM-5 which I already used some time ago and it's not there. I can only choose COM-1 and I don't know what the problem is because COM-5 was available to me some time ago but isn't now.
If you have nothing connected, does it still show COM1?
Perhaps you have a charge only cable, or your cable has gone bad.

Com1 is usually an internal port on the PC .
Do you have a proper data USB cable ?
What does Windows device manager say when you connect the board? Any (additional) yellow triangles?
Which TTL-to-USB chip is on the board; it's the chip closest to the USB port? It's either a square one with legs at all sides or a rectangular one with legs at the two long sides.
