First to do would be provide a spec sheet on just how the remote sends the ir signal, chances are it is modulated.
Find those details and then replicate that with an ir tx on the arduino plus any pushbuttons you need.
Seems a bit of a roundabout way of doing things as the remote already does the job without any arduino.
