Need help with lcd

Hi,
I'm quite a noob and starting to learn so i need some help on this.
When looking at this diagram. http://newbrightidea.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/BoxDiag.pdf

I know what connections need to be used on the arduino board.
But when checking the LCD, i have 16 connections, but on the diagram only 10 are used, and the naming on the diagram doesn't correspond with the naming on the lcd.

So can somebody make me a simple diagram telling me what connections on the lcd need to be connected to what connection on the arduino , the only connections labeled on the lcd are the + and -

kevin:

You only need six connections between the Arduino and the LCD although there are implementations that use more. You also need five more connections to the LCD module for power, contrast, and backlight. The diagram in your link omits the contrast connection (pin 3).

Look closely on your LCD module and you should see a #1 at one end of the row of pins.

Try following the tutorial at Arduino Tutorial - connecting a parallel LCD.
