I wanted to create a I2C sketch using the wire library...noticed that the old send and receive had been changed to read and write. My arduino says it version 0022 and it says "Arduino alpha" in the about menu. When I run it it says there is newer version available. First I was trying to just update the wire library, but could not find an update button. SO I figured I needed to update entire tool. How is this done? Do I need to uninstall the old version and completely reinstall the new version. How can you even tell what version is available? Thanks in advance....
How is this done?
Download the new version and unzip it to a convenient location.

No. Older versions and newer version can coexist without problems. For no particular reason, I have five older versions on my computer.
How can you even tell what version is available?
thanks ...will give it a go
