Need ideas for a College Project with Arduino Boards

Hi,

First thread on the forum by me and I'm in dire need of assistance on a college project. Currently studying at Parsons school of Design in the DT program and I've been introduced to Arduino board only a week ago. All I can do at the moment is use the breadboard and light an LED light and control it because that's all we've learned so far. I don't mind doing additional research if any of the ideas you folks suggest. So basically we need to incorporate an Arduino board into an object. As simple as that. Our professor literally said we could stick an arduino board in a shoe and that would work but suggested we don't do that. Any suggestions, examples, etc would help please. If you require me to look into a code for the board, np. I'm aware of how to do coding a bit but will learn if required more as well for this project.

Thanks!

Thanks currently looking at this. I lack creativity and I've noticed this to be a problem in everything with my oil paintings to my architectural designs, etc. It might not be an excuse but thanks so much for the link.

So I've looked through these and the only one that has intrigued me so far is the talking clock. Anyone else have any other cool suggestions or examples?

A beer keg weight measuring system so you know when its getting low. Add a calibration system & display to estimate & show how manu mugs/steins/plastic cups of beer is left.

Set colored light to your painting.. Change color and/or intensity based on viewers relative position.

How about something similar to this:-

Lots of other things on that page as well.

This begs the question as to why you are on a creative course then?

Have an infrared X/Y sensor matrix in front your artwork, with small motors behind that change 3D effects as hand position is moved around. Rotate things, go in & out, back & forth, up & down.

Not a bad idea... Once made a system that calculated the water contents in a buffer barrel for a heating system (three legged support, measure pressure on one leg, multiply the weight by 3 and done) but a keg would work.

Robotic painting machine. Give it some numbers for range of brush strokes, size of brush or other utensil, stroke or dab, number of colors allowed, let it have at it painting little happy trees.

Thanks so much fellas. I'll use the art ideas for my Visual concept which will be an upcoming project in the future! But for the object I'm thinking of going with the talking clock concept and change it up a bit but have my own design enclosing it.

I love this but I can't bring a beer keg to school to display the example :frowning:

So bring a 5 gallon water bottle.

Not even an empty one? Fill it with water when you get there. You've only got to show that the idea works.

perhaps a career in politics, then?

add a thermometer to that beer keg and a display that reads

Cold Beer Available

less Cold Beer Available

Beer emergency: getting warm!!!

etc...
