The project involves bi-directional communication between 2 arduino megas using NRF24L01 transceivers.
I am just having trouble with the radio coding.

By the way if you have tried an NRF library like this one and it does not work, power is likely to be the issue.
Try decoupling capacitors such as a 1uf ceramic coupled with 1000uf electrolyte as close as possible to the VCC and GND pins.
