NEO 6-M External antenna

Hi I have a NEO 6-M and I would like to receive data indoor.
I saw this antenna:

Will it work? And I would like to know what kind of adapter I need to buy to connect them.

You can get ipex to SMA adapter leads that should fit on most NEO 6M boards. Make sure the SMA socket on the end of the adapter is the right one for the external antenna lead.

Note the GPS will only report the position of the external antenna.

With Ali one never knows. I got my NEO6-M with a working antenna and the build works inside my appartment.

Did you use external antenna?, Can you explain to me how you managed it? I connect mine inside the house, half an hour, an hour, two hours pass and nothing changes.

That can be normal.

'Houses' and buildings vary a great deal in construction and how transparent they are to radio waves. For some and very extended times for a fix, or no fix, can be normal.

If you want to know if your GPS and antenna is operating normally, take the GPS outside where it has a good view of the sky, you should get a fix within 45 seconds or so.

No. The antenna is a flat square 2 x 2 cm sitting inside the plastic cabinette, connected via a coaxial cable fit to the NEO6-M.
@srnet is right. I'm lucky here.

Your ceiling has insulation. Some insulation has an aluminum foil backing. Some has aluminized mylar backing. Both will stop the GPS signal.

I use these:

because they have 4 mounting holes. none is useless, 1 is a pivot point. 2 allows stable mounting. 4 allows a proper mount. it has a u.fl connector. I add

and

I live in a house with a steel roof. this combination works fine

The link says active antenna, which means there is an amplifier inside, which must receive power through the coax. There are no passive antennas with long wires, as the long wire looses too much signal without amplification. Are you sure the GPs module provides the right voltage for the antenna.
Leo..

This will be good?

Take heed of what Wawa said in post #9.

If your GPS module does not have provision for powering up the antenna then buying an external active antenna and that UFL to SMA adapter will be a waste of money.

Have a look at this example (which already has an SMA socket fitted):

The components inside the yellow box are the ones that supply the voltage to the SMA connector, as shown in the partial schematic below:

The full schematic is here:

If your GPS module doesn't have similar components already fitted, then you are out of luck.

If you can provide a link to your GPS module or good quality photographs of it, we might be able to see whether what you want to do is feasible.

Thank for the help, thats the module i have:

Its called neo 6-m

Yes, it looks as though you have components between pins 8 & 9 (VCC_RF) and pin 11 (RF_IN) which will provide power to the external antenna.

The antenna from your link in post #1, should work with your GPS module using the adapter from your link in post #10.

if the length works for you. there are GPS antennas with long cables and u.fl antennas. one solution to two problems

Measure the voltage on the stripline between module and aerial socket with active aerial connected.
