NEO6 GPS MODULE

I got this GPS GYNEO6MV2 Module from ebay.
I tried NeoGPS and TinyGPSPlus libraries for testing it.
The module does not connect to sattelites.
The module has a red len on it and it is always on.
I read that if the module connect to satelites the led must blink.
I use an arduino UNO and i have connect the module to +5V , GND , and TX,RX to Digital 3,4 pins.
I use the code below to test it

Yes of course.
I am out with clead view to the sky.

How long did you wait for the GPS unit to find satellites? It can take a long time (15 minutes plus) to find satellites the first time.

I have wait for about 20 minutes.
Is there any other test sketch to test?
And is it right that the led must blink when it is connected to dats?

Try a simpler test. Just read from your software serial instance and echo what you get to serial so you can confirm that you're getting readable NMEA sentences from the GPS. It also help you confirm that you have the baud rate for the GPS correct.

Agree with @wildbill, the first bit of code to use when testing a GPS should really be a simple GPS echo, the process and other trouble shooting is decribed here;

The you either have it wired wrong or the GPS is faulty.

Change GPSTX and GPSRX pins to 4 and 3 and now i have aoutpout in serial monitor:

but even after 4 minutes i don't have any change to output in $GPSSV as you can see it is always 1,1,00*79 and as the above tutorial says the module can not get any satelite.

After 9 minutes the output change sometimes in line $GPSSV but then in the next refresh it's going again to 1,1,00*79

I will test it for some minutes and i will post here the results.
Maybe it needs more than 20 minutes to lock.

After 30 minutes of tests eventualy the module seems to work.
I think that the antenna is not so good.

I've noticed with older GPS units, particularly if they remember where they were when they last powered up, that it can take a long time to figure out a fix when they're now half the world away.

I wonder if you can give the poor thing a hint about where you are.

Even if you could, I cannot see how that would help a GPS that is having problems receiving any satellites.

Years ago I bought a GPS in the UK. IIRC, its last known position was somewhere distant such as Taiwan. When I first powered it up it took at least twenty minutes to get a fix. subsequent startups were much quicker to get a lock. I assume that the difference between cold, warm and hot startup accounts for this.

Since the OP says that he got his device working after thirty minutes, I expect that it was doing a cold start and that as an older model, it may not be especially efficient at doing that. A poor antenna would likely make things worse.

I'd be interested to know how long it takes to get a fix today.
