New Arduino Uno not connecting after first 5 sketch runs

Hello I just purchased the Uno Wifi Rev. 2 as well as the Motor Shield from arduino and the board now only heats up and cannot be recongnized by the IDE. I want to send an email but without the board connecting to my pc i cannot get the S/N to apply to the email. What can I do?

Here are the screenshots from before and after uploading as well as the copy of the log.

Failed sketch upload.txt (10.4 KB)

Don't worry about the SN.

Have you tried without the shield?

I suspect that you've blown up the board, the heating up is usually an indication of that. Which component heats up?

Do you have a link to the shield? Does it have a jumper to route 5V or 12 V to the Arduino?

The motor shield instructions are specific about cutting a trace (if it is a true Arduino motor shield)
If you applied external power without that trace cut there is a strong chance you may have damaged something

See the documentation section here

Bob.

I did do the trace cut as instructed by the documentation when i ran my first test. I ran the same setup with my old arduino uno but the outcome was successful. Is it possible that the uno wifi rev2 isn't designed to run the motor shield?

Please answer the question @sterretje asked:

Have you tried without the shield?

If you remove the shield from your Uno WiFi Rev2, are you then able to upload to it?

Sorry I didn't realize that my arduino store account doubled as a forums account until this morning I will close the other account a use this one instead.

I have tried without the driver shield and the board still doesn't register. The shield seems to work fine as i have used it with my older uno. I followed the exact same procedure with the older arduino and everything works fine.
