You are taking it out of context... you need to use the more complete "long legged female header".
Wish they had a screw terminal block option- I don't trust the push-in connectors - though a 2x screw terminal is would be a strange beast.

Yes but you can't buy one to break out all of the mega headers into screw terminals...

Are you talking about the 2x18 mega headers... They are put through the board and soldered on the underside (all 36 pins)...

Well I don't do anything cos I'm nothing to do with it but as it's a kit, you will have to do that yourself...
