Hiya all
I bought a new Keyes Arduino NANO from a reputable UK supplier (FluxWorkshop) on eBay to build my night-time lighting rig, but sadly I can't get it to work at all as there seems to be no serial port over which to communicate with the NANO. When I have selected the NANO as the device, the only port listed is a bluetooth one - nothing over serial USB.
I have done a little research and spotted that the device uses CH340 chip instead of the FTDI chip so I located the relevant driver and installed them, alas still no joy. I have messaged the seller asking if they have a suitable driver link and am awaiting a response.
I am on Mac OSx El Capitan 10.11.6 if that helps.
Can anyone offer help please as to what I do next?
Thanks
UPDATE:
For anyone else experiencing similar issues - it appears that my particular combination of hardware and OS is simply not compatible with the CH340 chipset, and needs FTDI to communicate via serial USB.
Apparantly, there is what I consider a dubious sort of 'fix' which involves amending some security settings of OSx using Terminal having booted to 'R' (recovery) mode - something which I for one was not willing to do. There's no way I wanted to risk expose my Mac to any security changes for the sake of a £4 Arduino board!
So, despite there being no fault with the NANO, Sebastian - owner of Flux Workshop on eBay - is taking it back. He also gave me some great advice on using a Pro MINI instead.
So... his quick thinking 'live' marketing and general afable character whilst oin the telephone to me won him some additional business and yesterday I ordered an additional Keyestudio Arduino UNO and Pro MINI.
So, that's today taken care of then... trying to code the MINI from the UNO
