New Project Advice

Hi, Hope this is ok to post here,

I'm a real novice when it comes to this but know my way round hardware and other electronics. My plan is I want to have all my lamps in my room and projector screens on a remote switch/Alexa without spending a fortune on control systems. I think have sourced the correct parts - a wifi chip and an 8 way 240v relay box. Can I accomplish my plan with these bits of kit and could I have a bit of guidance on how to go about the programming and 'plugging' up of the Arduino side. The lamp and projector side I can figure out myself and have already worked it out.

Thanks in advance.

Bradley

Safety and legality is utmost in controlling AC lights and devices!

Suggest you save up your money and buy Insteon switches/outlets.

These can be controlled with the ‘ISY’ controller (made by Universal Devices) which has very powerful programming capabilities.

You can have Alexa send controls to the ISY through a network portal (~$12.00 for two years).

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You made a couple of mistakes up to now. You didn't read the forum guide in the "please read" sticky post before you posted your question. If you had, you might have asked a question we could actually answer. Second mistake was buying components first and asking for advice second. You may have wasted your money, or made life more difficult for yourself.

Over to you!

What do you mean by a "wifi chip" and 8 way relay box?

Can you tell us your electronics, programming, arduino, hardware experience?

Thanks.. Tom...
