Hi All,,,,,I need help with this should be a simple project, Im new to this
I am trying to figure out if it can be done and what components to use.
I want to have a signal sent wirelessly to a receiver unit from a low voltage relay that has been activated (possibly Arduino Uno,not sure or some other device)
the reciever unit would be connected to the internet and be able to send an email or text notification. Im envisioning a sending unit and a receiver unit.
Can the "sending unit" ie the unit attached to the relay not directly send a mail/text notification ?
Is there ethernet / wireless lan / GSM coverage / mains power available at the locations of the sender and receiver units ?
Like @6v6gt I don't understand why you dont just connect the relay to a Arduino and then have that Arduino send the email or text message.
If you really do need two devices then you could connect the relay to one Arduino have it communicate with a second Arduino and then get the second Arduino to send an email or text message.
It will work and would not be expensive, your would need 1 or 2 Arduinos an ethernet or wifi shield the relay and a few other bits.
Don't forget your will need a SIM card if you want to send texts or an internet connection if you want to send emails both of which have costs.
You really need to givemore information. What is the relay attached to. How far apart do you expect the transmitter and receiver to be, what is between them e.g. air or 10ft of reinforced concrete.
