New user - what should I purchase to enable a button push (piston) on light sensor triggered?

Hi Forum!

My daughter is into Robotics but uses a different platform for her team events and contests.
We are having an issue with our boiler where it will simply turn off for no reason at odd times.

Once it turns off, a light is activated on the side.
Next to the light is a physical reset button you need to push, to get it to restart.

Running down to the basement at 6 AM to reset it hasn't been that much fun.

What parts would I need to order, and board, to be able to detect when the light goes on, and have that activate a piston to push the reset button?

Any help is appreciated!

Let someone who is qualified repair or replace the boiler.

Agreed.

OP, your proposal is a Band-Aid for symptoms of a broken leg.

You may have one of the following issues:

  1. Low air intake
  2. Circuit breaker problems
  3. No boiler ignition
  4. Thermostat issues
  5. Malfunctioning boiler pump
  6. Fuel filter or pressure issues

You can check a couple of these yourself, but you're probably best paying for a service call and diagnosis.

Best not to play with fire.

To repeat what has already been stated, this would be EXTREMELY dangerous, and would doubtless invalidate your homeowner’s insurance when the house burns down.

Absolutely NO, this is too dangerous.

If it is an ignition problem, there could be fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber, resetting too quickly before that has time to dissipate could cause a small explosion.

Concern has been raised about the dangers of this project so I have locked it. I am not deleting it as I want it to remain along with the warnings various members have posted.

I've also removed a suggestion on how to do it.

Thanks
