Total newbie here looking for what will probably be basic guidance. Running an Arduino UNO using MacBook Pro (c.2012) OS 10.12.3. When new, seemed to upload basic programs fine. Now all I can upload is blink. Everything else leads to beeping but no activation of LEDs or change to the main LED blinking (sometimes it extinguishes). My port selection is /dev/cu.usbmodem1411 which doesn't include the tty like in the installation instructions. Code seems to upload okay (says "done uploading") but output on device doesn't change. What am I doing wrong? Is it wrong port? Do I have the wrong file path?
So why do you post a screenshot of 9.34.16 of code that does not compile?
And why screenshots? A waste of bandwidth. Use code tags as described in the How to use this forum (section 7).
And what do you mean by 'output does not change'?
You saw that whole "newbie" part right? I don't write code and I'm not an expert forum user. I was hoping to rely on this forum for guidance, not snarky replies. I thought screen examples would help since I don't speak the language. I'm trying to get this thing to work for my 10 year old and just need some assistance. I don't know what a code tag is, I don't speak code language, and I don't know what the bandwidth rules are.
I connect the UNO to my Mac via USB cable. The only program (code or whatever) I can upload is "Blink" from the Basics menu. All others lead to the same blinking, fail to upload (9.34.16 screenshot), or cause a continuous audible alarm from the UNO. My kid just wants to do simple things like play Flappy Bird for now. Then he can start learning more advanced code.
If you can't help me, can you direct me to someone (or something) that can?
Please answer my third point. What do you expect the sketch to do? You are aware that you need to connect a led plus resistor to pin 9? You are aware that leds have a polarity?
The comments were not intended to be snarky. Sorry if you interpreted them as such.
// edit
A normal uno does not make audible noises, so what is all connected?
