Newbie - Powering Arduino in Public Setting

I am researching and experimenting with the arduino and Pure Data for an interactive media class and was hoping to create a sound project.

How could i provide power for the arduino and other possible components (such as IR sensors and piezo buzzers) if i wanted to show this in my classroom where there may not be a usb or plugin.

Might i note, im a super newb. So if you can dumb down anything please do. And i apologize for any standards i may have broken posting here.

I appreciate any help you may provide, thank you!

Largely dependent on how long you want it to remain running before recharging, and not real efficient, but the likes of below is not to expensive an option. Just wire it to a plug and insert into the external power connector of the board. There are smaller ones if you only need an hour or two running time.

12V is likely too much though. Look for more like 7.5-9V.

As an experiment you can try a single 9v battery. They're pretty awful but it will give you a benchmark. The 9v are rated about 600 mah. If you could put 5 AAs in series you'd go 3X as long. Cs and Ds that much better.

I use a cheap "NITROPOWER" 9.6V Radio Control NIMH battery with an Adapter that fits the board. Works Nice.

5-8AA batteries is fine.

If your budget allows, get a 9v rechargeable battery and charger... More money but way smaller thar 3 AAs or 4 AA rechargeable.

A minty boost device also works, as would an iPod/usb battery charger.

You will need to copy this whole link into your browser. You basically just need connecting USB wires which you might find at a store like 5Below. I bought the above unit at 5below (five dollar store) because I thought I could use it. It holds four AA batteries and has a female USB connector.
