Hi,

I'm consider buying a Chassis like this:

 ![Screenshot_20240122_150119](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/arduino/original/4X/2/4/6/246f50a5236d136f2ade913e04f2a084a4afd2a4.jpeg)

The equipped motor (two in total) spec is :

Motor model: 33GB520
Motor voltage: 9 to 12V

And from the picture looks like each motor only has two wires (VCC and GND). I'm wondering How to control 12v motor from ardunio board (5V)?

Can the ardunio board and motor powered by separate batteries of different voltage?

Any extra module I need to buy to control it move forward and backward?

Thanks.

Use a driver like L9110.

For this circuit you need to connect the ground of the Arduino to the Ground of the motor, the L9110 is not an isolated driver.

Are both forward and backwards used? If not, a transistor could do the job.

My read is the no load motor current is 100 mA.

I also assume a gear motor meaning the motor has included gear reduction. So did you want fwd and rev? If you want speed control and fwd / rev start looking for a suitable H Bridge. Just something capable of maybe 1.0 amp and 12 VDC. [This is a suitable H Bridge](https://www.pololu.com/product/2990) and since it is single channel you want two of them.

Yes I need to control both forward and backward.

Note that the L9110 is half of a crappy L293. Not something you want to show your friends.
And that the DRV8838 is not rated for a 12volt motor supply.
The **[TB6612](https://www.pololu.com/product/713)** is another option.
Those chips are also used on **[Adafruit's motor shield v2.3](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1438)**.
Leo..
