Newbie question, simple step motor control

Hi all,

I'm trying to do something that should be straight forward but I'm getting confused, using a bipolar step motor and a leonardo board, I just want to motor to step through 90 deg intervals, stopping and waiting for an adjustable period of time. the sequence runs over 24 hours i.e. 0 degs for 15 mins, then on to 90 degs for 15 mins etc.

Can't find similar examples that I can re-write withiut getting into trouble.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You are unlikely to find a sketch that does what you want

  • Can you make the stepper run on command ?
  • Can you make the stepper move through 90 degrees then stop ?
  • Can you make the stepper turn through 90 degrees then stop for a fixed period before doing it again ?
  • How will the stopping period be adjusted ?
  • Do you understand how to use millis() for timing ?

This web site has an excellent video accompanying the transcript...

Thanks to all of you for you prompting and help. I've managed to pull everything together and get the job done.

All the best to you!
