Newbie Question: Using a Shield for the first time

I am using a Shield for the first time and have a real newbie question. I have an Elegoo MEGA2560-R3 and an OSEPP SCSHD-01 Motor & Servo Shield. When I try to mount the Shield on the Mega the pins are not long enough so the shield is flush on the board. Am I doing something wrong (yes, it IS aligned correctly) , or is pins too short a common problem and I need pin extenders ? I would have hoped being compatible meant physically as well as electronically, but ....
Thanks
Jack
ps If I need to make the pins longer what should I use ?

That doesn't sound correct. Got a picture?

Installation and troubleshooting is not for your project. It is only for getting the IDE going.
So I have moved your post here.

Pleased read the getting the best from this forum sticky post at the start of each forum section.

Thank You

Shield is flat on top of USB/Power connectors but pins are not all the way in ?

Look at how much of the shield pin that goes into the MEGA contacts. That's the important thing.

EDIT:

That is fully okey.

That looks ok. Compare:

Put a piece of electrical (sticky) tape on the USB socket if there is a possibility of the shield shorting out to the metal shield of the USB socket.
Leo..

Possibly not made for each other...I'd be looking into what connects where first up.

Ordered a set of header extenders for an R3. That should do take care of it.

I was expecting the shield pins to go fully into the connectors and they don't on the header extenders either. Guess the shield pins are just extra long, which I guess makes sense. Just looks odd, but works fine. Thanks
