Newbie unable to upload

Hi Guys,

I'm a complete Arduino newbie, so I've read through the troubleshooting guides, searched the forum, and obviously Googled, but I'm completely stuck.

I'm just trying out a new Uno starter kit, so I plugged the board in, installed the IDE and drivers, then tried to upload the blink sketch example.

I get the error : "avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
** 0x62 != 0x0c**
avrdude: verification error; content mismatch"

The board is set to Arduino/Genuine Uno, and is using COM3. The port reports as working ok, the driver is 1.1.1.0, and the file points to c:\windows\system32\drivers\usbser.sys.

There is power to the board, and the lights blink when a reset is performed. Nothing is plugged into the board at all.

OS is Windows 8.1.
IDE is 1.6.7.
Board : UNO

Any suggestions or ideas very much appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

You can try to burn the bootloader again.

If that doesn't work then most likely the 328 is done.

Thanks for reply.

Presumably this is as simple as Tools-->Run BurnBootloader ? - if so, that generates the this error :

avrdude: usbdev_open(): did not find any USB device "usb"
Error while burning bootloader.

Did you try to Google it? Clikkkk

Try to use another USB poart or the most stable release, 1.6.5 r-5.and burn the bootloader.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

I've replaced the 328, and everything is now working just fine.
