NFC as wireless Interface

Hello all,

I am planning to build a hidden safe with no handle or number pad. Therefore I need a possibility to enter the access code wireless, best case via smartphone. I know that probably the easiest way would be to use Bluetooth, but I would like to make it more secure by using NFC. So my plan is, to place my smartphone on a specific spot on the wall so that the devices start pairing. Then it should be possible to enter an access code, like on an standard safe.

Does anybody have an idea if it is possible to use NFC for that purpose (and best case also know an existing Application for Android)?

Would be glad for ANY good ideas or alternatives.

Thx! Best regards! David

Many things are possible - presumably you'd have something like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/789 to implement the safe?

I think its quite complicated though, I'd start with the resources there to see what's involved.

I would use any Arduino-Board with an NFC Board (presumably from Adafruit), but at this state I am quite open to any possible additional hardware.
Currently my questions is still if NFC is the right choice, because I cannot find any application where an actual datainput can be made and submit from the device to the receiver.
All I found so far are NFC Tags with specific IDs, which allows the holder to access instantly with no additional “passcode” request. This could lead to unauthorized access if the tag being stolen/lost etc…

So my idea is to have an application on my phone which pairs with my Arduino and askes for an access code. NFC seemed interesting for me, because of its very low range (which also increases safety).

So, when the zombie Apocalypse happens and the power is off, you will not need to open your safe. Is that right?

sp: Zombie Apocalypse.

who says that the safe will contain anti-zombie devices? maybe I want to make sure nobody can access my secret porn stash ;) Anyways, I will install a little fusion reactor or some batteries (depending on what will be easier to organize) to cover power downs. Also an mechanical backup in case of hardware-failure will be installed, but this is still in planning.
