hi i want to make a nichrome igniter that can ignite alcohol fumes but its does not get hot enough
3X rechargeable AA
1 cm of 36 AWG nichrome
note: 4X AA snaps the nichrome

The auto-ignition temperature of ethanol is 365°C. At that temperature, the insulation on the wire connected to the Nichrome is going to catch fire. Unless you have used wire with insulation designed for that temperature. Have you?
Have you calculated the current necessary to raise the temperature of the Nichrome to 365°C?
Is the wire connected to the Nichrome capable of safely carrying that current?
Are three AA batteries able to reliably provide that current?
Try wrapping the nichrome wire around the head of a match.
You could also use a single strand of steel wool wrapped around the match head.

no down no calculations the most i can tell you is that it goes red and snaps when i put 4xAA
what temp does it melt?
good idea WP
I hope you don't live too close.
Crack the glass of a small lightbulb from a torch in a vice.
One AA battery migh make the fillament glow hot enough.
Leo..
Or just buy ignitors ?

I've done that in the past. The filament gets white hot and burns out. It will certainly ignite ethanol in the presence of air.
I won't say what I used it for!
Russell.
buy ignighters?
can you use a transformer on a piezo of will it screw up?
and when the nichrome snaps isn't that hot enough to ignite mentholated spirits
If the battery is getting the nichrome hot enough to snap it then it must be well above the auto-ignition temperature of ethanol at 365°C. Nichrome melts at 1,400°C. The lower and upper flammability limits of ethanol in air is 3.3%-19% (Flammability limit - Wikipedia). My guess is you are not in that range.
Check the cigarette lighter section at a large store and you might find some flame less versions.
flame less so just sparks?
per liter how much methylated spirits for a fast combustion but does not explode

Maybe you should revisit that phrase (I hesitate to call it a sentence)
I do not think that what you seem to be trying to do is possible.
Using gas air mix as a propellant requires nasa type engineering.
It will either explode or extinguish.
As you noted in your original post, 'fumes'. alcohols, methylated spirits, benzene, gasoline, diesel, whatever doesn't burn. Their vapors burn. your 'igniter' needs to be in the vapor, not the liquid.
You need a spark, not just a glowing heat source. buying igniters is the best idea, short of don't mess with igniting combustible vapors. but if you are still suicidal, look up Estes model rocketry. their igniters can easily be fired with arduinos and transistor driver circuits.
