No com3 detected Mega16U2

Hello, I'm using a clone board from Elegoo. I've been trying to get my windows 10 PC to recognize it for the past couple days, I had bought a starter kit which had the same issue and I returned it and bought a new one, both aren't appearing in my device manager.

I have tried reinstalling the IDE, tried installing the drivers manually, tried turning the board into DFU mode (it just keeps doing the same thing it was doing when I first plugged it in), and I'm at my wits end. I even tried to plug it into my Windows 11 PC but it just doesn't recognize it.

Since this is the 2nd kit and I switched board brands, I assume it isn't a cable problem.

"Elegoo Super Starter UNO R3 Kit", chips seen on the board are: Atmel Mega16U2, ATMEGA328P U and various smaller ones.

To add on to this post, both my current and previous board (the one I returned), have a program uploaded to them that plays regardless of what I do (reset button on boards didn't stop it, and trying to enable DFU mode didn't stop it). The program powers the 13th pin on and off exactly the same as the blink LED test.

Solved: I should learn how to plug in cables all the way!
I had plugged it in just enough for power but not fully enough for data.
