That is NOT the example. That's an edited version of it! In which you don't include SoftwareSerial...

Try installing the latest version: 1.1.1

Sketch->Include Library->Manage Libraries...
In the "Filter your search..." box, put "Fingerprint". It should show you what version you have installed and offer to update it for you.
